PICK UP & DROP OFF

ARRIVAL:

Our school has developed an entry plan to maintain student safety during the PK-3rd grade Hybrid Instructional Model. As a result, we are encouraging parents to drop-off students between 8:40 am - 9:10 am. To keep students as safe as possible, we are closing our front parking lot from 8:20 am - 9:10 am. We are opening our front driveway in front of the school to allow for a safe and quick kiss and go process.  Our bus lane has moved to the gates parallel to Constantinople Ave. (see the aerial map of our school)

Students will be assigned specific gates and doors for arrival, based on arrival options.

We are encouraging parents to drop students off by car if possible. Students being driven to school will be dropped off using the front driveway. Cars will pull up to the front of the school and students will get out quickly. Cars will not be able to park in this area. This will allow for safe and efficient arrival for our students. Students will be expected to wear face coverings once they exit the car.

  • (1) Students in grades 1-3 will enter through the front hallway door.

  • (2) Kindergarten students will enter through the kindergarten playground. Kindergarten teachers will meet their students at the outside door leading into their classroom.

  • (3) Students who ride their bikes will enter through the bike rack and lock their bike. They will then walk to the front of the school and enter through either the front hallway door (grades 1-3) or kindergarten students through the kindergarten gate.

  • Students who walk will walk to the front of the school and enter through the front hallway door (grades 1-3) or kindergarten students through the kindergarten gate.

School staff will be assigned gates and doors to supervise students and to eliminate congestion during arrival. Staff conducting duty stations during arrival will:

  • Supervise the hallways to ensure students are not congregating and that they are walking directly to their classroom.

  • Supervise the entry points (i.e., gates and doors) to ensure students are staggering their entry.

  • Ensuring students are wearing face coverings. (Students will be provided one if they don’t have one)

** We will monitor this process during the first week and make necessary adjustments **

DISMISSAL:

Our school has developed a dismissal plan to maintain student safety during the PK-3rd grade Hybrid Instructional Model. As a result, we will stagger our dismissal beginning at 3:10 pm. To keep students as safe as possible, we are closing our front parking lot from 3:00 pm - 3:40 pm. We are opening our front driveway in front of the school to allow for a safe and quick pick-up and go process. Our bus lane has moved to the gates parallel to Constantinople Ave. (see the aerial map of our school)

During dismissal, students who ride the school bus will be dismissed last (i.e., after walkers) to ensure buses arrive after the bell. Students who are being picked-up by car will be dismissed first.

We are encouraging parents to pick students up by car if possible. In order to exit safely, we have designed an electronic accounting system to allow students to be called up from their classroom once a parent or guardian has arrived on campus to claim them. All parents/guardians designated to pick up their student will present their specially numbered and colored tag (either on the dashboard or in person) as they pull up to the front of the school. Once staff notes the arrival in our system, a notification will be sent to the teacher, who will then send the student out to a waiting staff member at the front of the school. Students will be given a lanyard with their specifically issued number and color that they are to wear to school EVERY DAY. The staff member will then direct the student to the awaiting vehicle or walking parent. We feel that this can be a successful system but really need your support and cooperation to make it work.

If you do not have a car to pick-up your child, we ask that you do not walk to the school earlier than 3:21 pm to avoid waiting around. Anyone waiting to pick-up students who are not in a vehicle will need to wear a face covering and practice social distancing while on school grounds

School staff will be assigned gates and doors to supervise students and to eliminate congestion during dismissal. Staff conducting duty stations during dismissal will:

  • Supervise the hallways to ensure students are not congregating and that they are walking directly out of the building.

  • Supervise the exit points (i.e., gates and doors) to ensure students are staggering their exit.

  • Ensure students are wearing face coverings until they get into a car or leave campus.

Parents/Guardians are not permitted on the school campus (i.e., fields, blacktop) to wait for their children after school to eliminate crowds. Therefore, we will not be opening any exterior gates during dismissal as we have done in the past.
